Sequel News

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry that there is still no sequel news.  The second Sweet book has not yet been taken to the acquisitions board for various reasons (nothing to do with the actual sequel itself, to my knowledge). I'm not sure if/when it's going to be picked-up at this point. Maybe this fall?

Along with being a writer, I'm a voracious reader.  I know how much it sucks to wait for the next installment in a series you adore.  I hate waiting a whole the thought of making my readers wait even longer than that hurts my heart.  I'm sorry.  I have no control over it.  All I can do is hope that word of mouth will spread about Sweet Evil and sales will help nudge the publishers.

Some people have asked if I can take the sequel to another publisher, but we don't want to do that.  I want to stay loyal to the ones who took a chance on me. If they say no, then we'll rush it off to different publishers. Either way, it's going to be a long wait.

In the meantime I'm just trying to stay busy and positive.  Pictures of baby animals help.

Thank you so much for your support and patience.  This summer is extremely crazy, but I hope to have a special Kaidan point of view scene written for you come September.  I seriously have the BEST fans in the world.  You guys make it all worthwhile, and I'm certain this will all work itself out in due time.

Big hugs,

Cover Reveal: KARMA BITES by Nyrae Dawn

I want to introduce you to my writing bestie, Nyrae Dawn. We became friends when our books went to the top five together on Inkpop three years ago. We were both excitable newbies in the business, and we've taken a major journey together--from budding writers with nothing but our passion for our stories and determination to share them with the world, to "official authors" achieving that dream. It's quite a transition, and though we live on separate ends of the US, we've leaned on each other every step of the way. I heart this girl, y'all.

Nyrae has had wonderful recent success with her two self-published companion novels What a Boy Wants and What a Boy Needs.  Karma Bites (formerly known as Chasing Normal on Inkpop) stole my heart years ago, back in the beginning of us. I fell hard for Caleb. I begged for more chapters as she edited. And don't worry, everyone, it's not your average vampire story. It's got a contemporary feel, and a main character whose voice will crack you up and make you want to be friends.

So, without further ado, here is the cover for Karma Bites, out August 15th from Crescent Moon Press!

How fun is this cover?!?!  And the story inside is just as much of a treat.  I hope you'll check it out!

Here's the synopsis:
"Whoever said, 'parents are always right' really should have thought that one through. After all, my mom believes in vampires. Go figure."

All Abigail Thompson ever wanted was to be considered normal. Instead, she ended up a loner with a vampire–obsessed mom and a stamp labeling her the resident freak of Karma, California.

When bad boy Caleb Evans saves Abby from a mean girl attack straight out of a “B” movie, Abby’s own karma starts to improve. Maybe “normal” could become her way of life, after all. But Caleb isn’t the only boy to notice her. Once newcomer Gabriel Chambers becomes Abby’s new best friend, she finds herself trapped between two boys, both holding secrets. And when Abby learns sometimes things really do go bump in the night, she discovers one of those secrets could just get her killed.

We Sigh for Kai

Kaidan has made it in to this year's YA Crush Tourney, hosted by The YA Sisterhood!  We are so thrilled about this, especially since Sweet Evil is still such a baby book in the scheme of things. To see Kai up there with all the "big boys" makes me a happy little creator. *wipes tear*  For those of you who aren't familiar with the tournament, today's top YA boys battle it out for the top crush. Kaidan's first match is against Finnick from The Hunger Games. I know, I KNOW! I friggin love Finnick, too, but this is my Kai we're talking about here! Finnick who? Finnick Schminnick.  :-)

Here's a little pressie I made for everyone. Just let those eyes pet you, luvs.

(Model is Wade Poezyn, who has graciously given permission to post his images here.)
And now I'd like to introduce you to Tara from Tater's Tall Tails!  Tara is Kaidan's advocate in the tourney, so she's going to be the voice for all of us who sigh for Kai.  Tara and I are teaming together for a HUGE giveaway of sweet goodies such as a signed copy of Sweet Evil, Tara's Sweet Evil ARC, and 15 autographed Sweet Evil bookmarks. Visit Tara's blog to enter to win, and get all of the details about the tournament!  Thank you, Tara!
**Plus**  If Kaidan beats Finnick, I am going to post a scene from Kaidan's point of view on both mine and Tara's blogs!  I had planned on doing this in about six months, but I will push up the date and give you MORE KAI NOW if he wins.
That's right...more of this guy.

This grab button is available on Tara's blog!
And oh, what the heck.  Here's more eye candy.

So?  Does Kaidan Rowe have your vote against Finnick on July 13th?!?!  We certainly hope so.  See you then.
